The KoalaFix extension connects Gemini CLI and turns on automatic memory in one step. The gemini mcp add command connects the tools only.
With the extension
gemini extensions install https://github.com/KoalaFix/koalafix-connect
The extension adds the KoalaFix server and the session hooks, so each session starts with the team’s brief. The hooks need Node.js 22 or later. On first use they show a sign-in link and a code; approve it once in your browser.
With one command, tools only
gemini mcp add --scope user --transport http koalafix https://mcp.koalafix.com/mcp
Then run /mcp auth koalafix inside Gemini CLI.
If it doesn’t work
Run /mcp auth koalafix to sign in again. If the hooks stop working, delete ~/.kalibrate/credentials.json and start a new session to get a fresh sign-in link.
